Rev. Oscar D. Epps, Sr. is the Founding Pastor of the Community Missionary Baptist Church of DeSoto, Texas where he has served since 1993. He is the youngest of eight children and the only son. Pastor Epps accepted his call to preach the Gospel in November 1987. He is a 1985 graduate of Kimball High School (Dallas, Texas) and attended Ranger Jr. College (Ranger, Texas) and Pittsburg State University (Pittsburg, Kansas) on a football scholarship. 

Pastor Epps received a four-year diploma from Southern Bible Institute (Dallas, Texas) in Biblical Studies and is a graduate of the School of Scripture (Dallas, Texas) with a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Counseling, he also served as an instructor in Church Administration at the School of Scripture.

Pastor Epps is the first African-American Chaplain of the DeSoto Police Department. He was President of the Community Task Force for Cedar Hill Independent School District where he was presented with the 2003 – 2004 volunteer of the Year Award by the C.H.I.S.D. Superintendent. Pastor Epps was also named the Greater Metropolitan YMCA Father-of-the-Year for 2004. Pastor Epps has been married to Belenthia since February 1988 and they are the proud parents of three children: Destany, Oscar II and Aderius.
